Q: What is the purpose of the Young Executives Club (YEC)?

A: To foster professional growth and leadership development by multiple methods including:

  • Learning from world-class entrepreneurs and CEO's speakers in small group settings
  • Sharing business insights with other members
  • Developing lifelong relationships with fellow members
  • Helping to run the YEC organization as a business in the role of committee or board members

Q: What if I am not an executive?

A: You do not need to be an executive. Most of our members are not executives yet, but are on the executive track.  Our membership includes entrepreneurs, executives, middle managers and others representing a wide variety of management.

Q. What is the membership process to join Young Executives Club?

A:   Membership to Young Executive Club is a 6 step process.

Step 1: Complete the online Membership Inquiry Form or contact our New Membership Chair, Judson Kinnucan at jkinnucan@humatal.com or 312-775-8112.

Step 2: After we receive your Membership Inquiry Form, you will be contacted by a YEC board member to discuss your interest in the club and answer any questions you might have.

Step 3: Register online to be a guest at any two of our upcoming events. All prospective members must attend at least two events prior to submitting Membership Application form.

Step 4: Identify two sponsors from amongst the current membership of Young Executive Club that you have met at recent Club events.

Step 5: Attend Prospective New Members Breakfast and receive the official Membership Application.

Step 6:   Complete the Membership Application form and a check made payable to Young Executive Club for your new member initiation fee and annual dues, $200. Submit to New Membership Board Member, Judson Kinnucan at jkinnucan@humatal.com or 312-775-8112 to be proposed to the Board of Directors for membership to YEC. Membership voting is conducted at the monthly Board of Directors meeting.

Q: How is being a member of YEC different from other groups?

A: Our membership has been designed to represent a wide range of professions. Our members share ideas from different business perspectives and in many instances are of help to each other. We do not encourage the quick business deal and do not allow aggressive selling at our venues. However, based upon established relationships, many of our members do conduct business together.

We have established a "Stay Connected" reduced level of membership for inactive current members. Through this option, members can stay connected to the YEC organization and their fellow members for the rest of their lives.

Q: What does the "Young" in YEC actually mean?

A: We define "Young" in the context of someone who is in the growth stage of their career rather than the narrow confines of chronological age. In this era of rapid change professionals may reinvent themselves and start new ventures many times during their careers. We define chronological age broadly as between 27 and 45 with exceptions at either end. There is no mandatory retirement age. We look for members with at least five years of business experience.

Q: How do I make the most of the Young Executives Club?

A: Like many situations in life, you tend to reap benefits from the organization commensurate with the effort that you put into it. All members are urged to seek out positions as chairpersons or committee members on our governing board.

Q: Are there any groups that support Young Executives Club?

A: No, the Young Executive Club of Chicago is an independent non profit organization. Volunteers manage and lead the group.

Q: What if I don't know any board members to sponsor me?

A: Monthly we have a "Prospective" Membership Breakfast, a more casual atmosphere that allows for meeting Board Members and others desiring to join YEC. After you have completed the online Membership Inquiry form and attended at least two YEC events, you will be eligible to attend the prospective Member events.

Q: What is the membership cost?

A:  Annual membership dues are $125. The new member initiation fee is $75. New members total dues for the first year in the club is $200.

Q: How long does the membership application process take?

A: About sixty days from the time you attend your first event.

Q: Does YEC have evening events?

A: Yes, they are called "Evening Spotlights" and occur about three or four times per year. In the past, topics have included: a panel of three of Crain’s 40 under 40, an Economic Forecast and other interesting topics.  We also have special events including: Wine Tasting, Holiday Party and Members Only golf outing.

Q: How can I find out about CEO Luncheons and other YEC Events?

A: Make the www.YoungExecutivesClub.com website your first source for up-to-date information on current events. Plus, you can take advantage of our online registration for express RSVPs to events.
